Dr. Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and has been the Director of the Atlanta Center for Behavioral Medicine since 1994. She addresses a variety of mental health concerns in her practice, with expertise in treating disorders that involve the relationship between physical and emotional conditions.A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Dr. Kelly attended undergraduate school at the University of Southern Mississippi, majoring in Psychology. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University in 1987. In addition to maintaining an independent practice in Atlanta, Dr. Kelly is actively involved in numerous professional organizations. A past president of the Georgia Psychological Association, she serves as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator of the Association. She currently serves as the Georgia Representative to the American Psychological Association’s Council of Representatives. She serves on the Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice, and is a Past-Chair of the Board of Professional Affairs with APA. She serves as President and Assistant Newsletter Editor for Division 31 and is a Member-at-Large for Division 29 within APA. For her advocacy work on behalf of Psychology, in the year 2000, Dr. Kelly was presented the Karl F. Heiser Advocacy Award by the American Psychological Association and the Legislative Award by the Georgia Psychological Association. She was the recipient of the Federal Advocacy Award by the Practice Organization of APA in 2004. She is the Chair of the Association for the Advancement of Psychology. She received the Outstanding Psychologist Award from Division 31 in APA. Dr. Kelly is a graduate of the 2003 class of Leadership Atlanta, and has served as program co-chair for the 2005-07 Health Day. She serves on the Advisory Board with Southern Christian Leadership Conference-W.O.M.E.N. and serves on the Board/Executive Committee of Project Interconnections, an organization in the metro Atlanta area devoted to providing housing for the homeless mentally ill, as well a member of the Board of Directors of ChisKids, in Atlanta, Georgia. Other professional organizations in which Dr. Kelly is a member include the American Academy of Pain Management, International Association for the Study of Pain, and the American Pain Society. Dr. Kelly is an Associate Editor of Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, an APA publication. She has numerous publications, including articles in Pain Digest, Comprehensive Review Book for Pain Medicine, Behavioral Sciences and the Law, and Practical Management of Pain. In her free time, Dr. Kelly enjoys playing tennis player and running. She has participated in numerous races and has completed three marathons. |
