Jeff Thompson is a real estate advisory, market analysis and valuation professional with a specialty in affordable housing and other tax-advantaged assets. Thompson is the founder and Principal of Atlanta-based Acacia Realty Advisors, focused on acquisition evaluation consultation for primarily financial institutional investor clients on a national basis. Thompson has completed real estate evaluations in 38 states and the District of Columbia. His consultations have surrounded new construction, renovation, and troubled assets, with properties types to include family workforce housing, housing for the elderly, and permanent supportive housing for those with mental disabilities and/or chemical dependency recovery.
Prior to founding his private practice Thompson was employed by Boston Financial Investment Management (BFIM). BFIM is among the most established investment syndicators in the affordable housing industry and among the largest asset managers of affordable housing in the United States. Prior to BFIM, Thompson was employed by the international real estate firm of Cushman & Wakefield in real estate valuation and investment sales. He began his career with regional valuation firm of Terzo & Bologna in Indianapolis. Thompson’s experience with Terzo & Bologna and Cushman & Wakefield afforded him exposure to various institutional investment grade real estate asset types prior to exclusive specialization in affordable housing.
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Thompson resides in metropolitan Atlanta area with his wife, Liz, a registered nurse, and his son, Spencer, a prospective freshman at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Thompson has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance/Real Estate from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, is a Georgia State Certified General Appraiser, a member of the National Council of Affordable Housing Market Analysts (NCAHMA), a member of the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA), and is a designated MAI member of the Appraisal Institute.
